Sports photos of the week for January 26, 2010
This week Big Shots travels to Dresden for the ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Championships, keeps our eyes on the birdie during the Malaysia Open Badminton Super Series in Kuala Lumpur, and burns a cricket league chairman in effigy in Karachi. It's never dull around here. I'm also gathering images for two special posts I'll share with you soon, The Australian Open tennis championships and the African Cup of Nations soccer tournament in Angola. ( 27 photos total)

Supporters of Shabab-e-Milli, a youth wing of Jamaat-e-Islami party, shout slogans and burn an effigy of Lalit Modi, the chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL), in Karachi January 22. India and Pakistan are trading diplomatic barbs over cricket in the latest setback to efforts to improve relations. An auction of players at the IPL, the world's richest cricket tournament, ended with no bids for 11 Pakistanis this week amid fears Indian teams could have visa problems for the Pakistani cricketers. Some very cool pictures here. I love the bright colors and contrasts in several of the pics.
Always great pictures. Is there any chance you can do an Australian Open 2010 series, or even just a Tennis picture series- there are always some great faces, and funny shots. Love all your pictures!
@K
I will absolutely post an Australian Open entry. I'm preparing it right now, in fact. Any suggestions for individual topics are always welcome!
Cannot wait!
