Big Baby is leaving the Boston Celtics and going to Disney World. Goofy, meet Goofball. At least he isn't going to the Lakers. Sure, Glen Davis will be welcomed in Orlando - but that's only if anyone is left after Superman flies to the Metropolis Nets. Maybe the Magic can let Baby run over one lucky fan (see video below at the 14 & 59-second mark) during halftime of opening night.
Swapping him out for Brandon Bass should pass the smell test with David Stern. Even if the deal stinks for a few Celtics fans. Danny Ainge is not one big on chemistry and Big Baby's presence will be missed by those who enjoyed his antics, if not his missed free-throws. Bass brings maturity, along with height and muscle. He could emerge as a scoring threat down low, provided someone can get him the ball underneath the basket. Most important: Bass will provide reliable minutes when Garnett needs a break. But there won't be any more of Big Baby's lovable and not-so lovable moments. The good news, Ainge can't do any worse than he did with the Kendrick Perkins trade.
This deal appears set. So why wipe out the Chris Paul trade? Why keep Khloé Kardashian, Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol in LA.? Why stop there? Too bad the NBA didn't cancel the Perkins trade. And while you're at it, ship LeBron back to Cleveland, send Dwight Howard to Boston with Bass and wipe the Rick Pitino Error with the Celtics out of the history books.
As far as getting CP3 here, hey Rondo, no hard feelings, right?
The Celtics are being constructive and pro-active with the Davis deal. The wreckage caused by "Deal Or No Deal" just made Heidi Watney's new job in LA that much more interesting. She'll be dealing with some of the biggest bruised egos since the Yankees benched Jorge Posada or Mitt Romney stood up The Donald. The Lakers posted this video just for Gasol. Maybe it will smooth things over:
Things don't look so bad for the Celtics, do they? The most hilarious aspect of the CP3 deal-no-deal is going to be fallout across Los Angeles. Watney must have a thing for covering disasters. Hold on to the wheel. She's sliding from the 2011 Red Sox to the 2011-12 Lakers. Sorry, Dr. Phil. Heidi's got you beat with that quiniella. She must know NBA stars are just as juvenile as their baseball counterparts. There are no hidden clubhouse antics during games. The dysfunction in the NBA usually takes place in nightclubs or on Twitter at about 2 a.m. Now it has spread to the league offices in New York.
Forget Josh Beckett, Tito and Dustin Pedroia, Heidi's got Kobe and Chris Paul. Wait, make that Kobe and couple of guys who were traded for Paul, along with Metta World Peace, a few aging Hollywood A-listers and the Kardashians. After a few days, she may want to jump off a bridge.
Wait, she's already done that:
Here's just a taste of what she's in for with these Lakers. The horror Khloé and hubby Lamar endured during those six hours when he was traded from the Lakers to - "Oh, my God, no!" - New Orleans was just too much. According to HollywoodLife.com, that's where I always go for my news, "Odom‘s happy-go-lucky demeanor took a major hit ... when he was nearly traded to the New Orleans Hornets." This next sentence is priceless: "Khloé Kardashian‘s husband is 'completely devastated.' He was even reduced to tears at the thought of having to uproot the life he built for himself in Los Angeles."
The story added: “His ego has been strained and he is ‘extremely upset’ over the whole ordeal ... Even with the deal not going through, he still knows he is now on the chopping block, and it’s only a matter of time before he leaves the Lakers.” Please, not that.
Kris Humphires, known as "Kim's Husband Until the Royalty Checks from The Wedding Cleared," can sympathize, Lamar. Let's see, Odom has won two titles with the Lakers, played 11 years in the NBA and won the league's "Sixth Man" award this past season. But he's only the 3d man in the Kardashian household behind Bruce Jenner and the ghost of Dad (Let's not jump to conclusions on the O.J. Case) Robert Kardashian.
Before Odom was a no-show at Lakers practice Friday, Mr. and Mrs. Kardashian both Tweeted that they were just fine. "When a team trades u and it doesn't go down? Now what?" @RealLamarOdom posted, before noting that he was going to focus on "staying positive." @KhloeKardashian added: "I would go anywhere with my hubby. I can survive anywhere ... People are acting crazy! LOL New Orleans is a great place. As long as I'm with Lam I'm good. And after the deal was snuffed out by David Sterelone, she Tweeted: "I love you Lamar!!!!! There's NO one like you! I'm so proud to be your wife :)" No wonder she has 5,340,669 followers. Wonder how many can count that high? Probably about 669.
Good luck with this bunch, Heidi. Remember, you're always welcomed back here.
