Those who can't be in Norton will have to settle for seeing Bradley's round through Thornton's eyes.
When the Hopkinton High graduate begins his round at 12:58 on Friday afternoon -- as part of an excellent group that also includes Matt Kuchar and Hunter Mahan, giving it three of the top 20 players in the FedEx Cup standings -- Thornton will be trailing the group and tweeting his observations through the PGA Tour's official Twitter account.
Golf and hockey would seem to be kindred sports spirits, and last week at The Barclays Tournament, the PGA sent New York Islanders Matt Moulson and Kyle Okposo between the ropes at Bethpage to follow and reports on Rickie Fowler's third-round performance. Check out the video below (specifically at about the two-minute mark) to hear a little bit about that experience for the two talented scorers.
Then check back here later today, when we'll share some of Thornton's best work.
UPDATE: A look at the day, through Thornton's highlights:
Happy to be out here at TPC Boston inside the ropes with Keegan. Amazed how fast these guys walk. Where's the fire, boys? ^ST— PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) August 31, 2012
Played with Keegan once before. Remember thinking next day: I've never met someone that's naturally THAT good at something. ^ST— PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) August 31, 2012
It's also crazy to hear the sound off their clubs. It's so different than anyone I play with. It's like a shotgun. ^ST— PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) August 31, 2012
Keegan's on No. 7. I'm surprised they let the players play these holes after the way I chewed them up in the pro-am.— PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) August 31, 2012
Keegan is on a roll now. He just made his third straight birdie to get back to even. A hat trick joke would be too cheesy. ^ST— PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) August 31, 2012
Incredible birdie by Keegan. Pushed his tee shot right and had a blind second over a hill. I easily could have made 9 from there. ^ST— PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) August 31, 2012
Good tee shot by Keegan. I may have put it closer in the pro-am yesterday though. ^ST— PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) August 31, 2012
I enjoyed tweeting along with you guys all day— PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) August 31, 2012
@dbchampionship. Thanks for all the replies and questions. Talk to you soon! ^ST
Thanks to the aforementioned run of birdies, Bradley finished his round at even par, nine shots off the lead.
