Shawn Thornton, Mike Eruzione to host 5K fundraiser in Revere
Shawn Thornton may be best known by Bruins fans for what he does with his hands – specifically his fists. But Saturday morning he’ll use his feet to make a difference.
The B’s forward will join Olympic hero Mike Eruzione in hosting the Dr. Bob Harney Stride for Health Walk, Run or Roll, which raises funds and awareness for the cardiology, orthopedic, and sports medicine programs within the Hallmark Health System that operates a variety of medical facilities in Boston’s northern suburbs and is the Bruins’ official health care partner.
Teams and individuals will take to the 5-kilometer course along Revere Beach at 9 a.m., with registration beginning behind the State Police barracks on Revere Beach Boulevard at 7:30, and will be followed by a barbeque and entertainment. It’s the fifth-annual Stride held in honor of Harney, whose “career has been dedicated to the education and welfare of able-bodied, physically challenged and intellectually challenged athletes.”
