If you saw the gigantic high-def video board that stretches from 20-yard line to 20-yard line above the field at the Cowboys' AT&T Stadium in Dallas, and your first thought was, "Wow, I'd love to play Madden on that thing" -- you may want to join the Patriots' Kenbrell Thompkins at Best Buy in Braintree on Wednesday night.

As part of the Ultimate Gamers Showdown, 64 contestants will compete in a Madden NFL 25 tournament that will begin at 5 p.m. and eventually determine who represents the Boston region in the championship round that'll take place in Dallas on Dec. 16 -- with those eight finalists going head-to-head on the world's largest 1080p HD screen. They'll get to bring a guest, and get a $1,000 Best Buy gift card, too.

Registration is first-come, first-served, and begins on site at noon for players 18 or older. There will be other prizes given away, as well, and Thompkins will be there from 6:30-8 -- stepping in for fellow receiver Danny Amendola, who was originally scheduled to make an appearance. The first 250 people will receive autograph cards.

Being a rookie, the 25th-anniversary edition of the popular football game marks the first to include Thompkins -- but thanks to his game-winning grab against the Saints earlier this season, and thanks to the folks at fansided.com, he's already been immortalized in video game form. The graphics might not be quite as sharp as they are in the new Madden, and we're not sure it would translate well on a screen 60 yards wide. But it's still good.
