at Pawtucket Red Sox – Chris Hernandez (2012: 5-12, 3.26 ERA, 90 Ks)

NOTES: The Sea Dogs set sail on their first road trip of the season, but won’t have to leave New England until Monday as they play their next four games in New Britain. Brandon Workman looks to build off of his solid start in the second game of the season. Minus a 4-run second inning, the 6’4” righty was dealing, topping his fastball off at 97-miles-per-hour. He will be opposed by former Boston College lefty Pat Dean who looks to keep the Rock Cats, fresh off a three game sweep of Harrisburg, rolling. After scoring just eight times in their first four games, which in included a seven inning no-hitter, the New Britain bats have exploded for 35 runs over their last three games…Pat Light’s first outing for Greenville was short lived after a 34-pitch second inning, eclipsing the organizational limit for one inning (normally 30 pitches). He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits and a walk, and struck out 3 batters…Chris Hernandez has the honors of opening up the McCoy Stadium season. Once the pomp and circumstance of opening day is done and championship rings and banners have been displayed, the PawSox will look to remain atop the I.L. North standings where they currently sit at 5-1. The added bonus of having a rehabbing David Ortiz in the lineup can only help add to festivities of what should be a great opening night in Pawtucket....The Salem Red Sox have an off day. Henry Owens will get the ball for their home opener tomorrow night against Myrtle Beach.

New England teams
6:35 p.m.
New Hampshire Fisher Cats – Deck McGuire (2012: 5-15, 5.88 ERA, 97 Ks)
at Binghamton Mets – Logan Verrett (2012:

NOTES: Deck McGuire hits the hill for his second start of the season, searching for his first win since July 28th of last season. In six starts against the BMets in 2012, McGuire was 1-5. Logan Verrett, a 2011 third round draft pick of the Mets, picked up the victory in Double-A debut last week. He held Akron to 3 runs in 6 innings to earn the win thanks to 7-runs of support in his favor.
