Salem Red Sox – Mike Augliera (4-0, 3.38 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 29 Ks)
at Frederick Keys – Zach Davies (3-2, 4.26 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 33 Ks)
NOTE: This is Mike Augliera’s second start against Frederick. Last Sunday he allowed a season high 10 hits against the Keys, but did not factor into the decision. His 4-0 record is tied with Allen Webster for best undefeated mark in the Sox farm system.
Pawtucket Red Sox – Steven Wright (2-2, 4.26 ERA, 1.74 WHIP, 28 Ks)
at Lousiville Bats – Greg Reynolds (4-0, 2.88 ERA, 0.35 WHIP, 26 Ks)
NOTE: After a stellar April (1-0, 1.93 ERA) earned him a call up to Boston, Steven Wright has not been the same since his return after his one rain-soaked big league appearance. In four May starts he is 1-2 with a 6.11 ERA and 1.87 WHIP. After allowing no home runs in his first four starts, Wright has given up four in his last three.
Greenville Drive – Brian Johnson (1-3, 4.34 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, 28 Ks)
at Charleston RiverDogs – Cesar Vargas (1-2, 3.79 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 29 Ks)
NOTE: Although he has lost two straight, Brian Johnson has looked solid in three of his last four starts as his reps increase. He had a season high 8 strikeouts in his last start versus Hickory and excluding a lost to Asheville in which he allowed 6 earned runs, he has yielded only 4 additional runs in his last four games. This will be Johnson’s third straight start on the road where he is 0-2 with a 5.63 ERA.
Portland Sea Dogs – Drake Britton (3-4, 4.79 ERA, 1.51 WHIP, 44 Ks)
at Binghamton Mets – Logan Verrett (6-1, 3.28 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 45 Ks)
NOTE: Half of Drake Britton’s losses this season have come at the hands of the BMets. In two starts versus Binghamton, Britton has allowed 8 earned runs, 13 hits and 3 walks over 11 2/3 innings. He did strike out a season-high 7 versus the BMets back on April 16th, but has not K’d more than 5 in his last four starts.
New England teams
New Britain – 2
New Hampshire – 3 (Bottom 4th)
NOTE: This is the completion of Friday night’s suspended game and will play out nine innings as intended.
New Britain Rock Cats – Pat Dean (1-5, 6.25 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, 25 Ks)
at New Hampshire Fisher Cats – Marcus Walden (3-4, 2.96 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, 25 Ks)
NOTE: This will be the fourth start against the Fisher Cats for Boston College product Pat Dean, and third at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. Dean is 1-1 with a 3.26 ERA and no walks in those three starts, but in his last two outings he has been tagged for 13 runs and 14 hits in 6 1/3 innings. New Hampshire’s Marcus Walden has had two of his more forgettable starts this season versus the Rock Cats. He is 0-2 in those games having allowed 8 earned runs and 19 hits in 9 2/3 innings. Walden has won his last two starts and is 2-1 with a 2.59 ERA in May.
