HIGHLIGHTS: The PawSox (27-20) eight-game road trip did not start off on the right foot after flight cancellations and diversions made the team late for the opener in their series at Louisville. When the start time was pushed up by over and hour the Pawtucket showed the wear of a long day of travel while the Bats put up 8 runs in the first four innings. … Jackie Bradley Jr. (2-for-5, 2 strikeouts) was the only PawSox batter with a multi-hit game and Justin Henry (1-for-3, double, walk) collected the only extra-base hit. … Starter Terry Doyle gave up season highs in runs (8) and hits (11) and did not register a strikeout for the first time in his ten appearances this season. … Bats starter Tony Cingrani (Reds No. 3 prospect per Baseball America) threw 5 scoreless innings running his season total to 19 1/3 frames without allowing a run.

HIGHLIGHTS: After dropping the series opener the Sea Dogs peeled off three straight wins to take the four-game set. Portland (27-18) upped their lead in the E.L. Eastern Division to 2 games over Buffalo while the Fisher Cats (23-25) inch back towards the cellar, 5 ½ games behind in fourth place. … Second baseman Derrik Gibson led the offense with a 3-for-4 effort, 2 doubles, 2 RBIs and a run. He had been hitless in his prior four starts. … Outfielder Matty Johnson, who was called up from Salem earlier in the week, went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and has hit safely in all three games since joining the Sea Dogs. … Xander Bogaerts went 1-for-5 with an RBI and is batting .211 in his last 14 games. … Brock Huntzinger picked up his 10th save, most in the Red Sox organization.

HIGHLIGHTS: Scheduled for a doubleheader the Salem Sox (19-24) and the Dash managed to at least get one game in before the rains wiped out game two. A four-run first put Winston-Salem in the driver’s seat in the seven-inning affair. … Every batter in the Salem lineup has exactly one hit except for catcher Blake Swihart who went 0-for-4. Swihart had a modest five-game hitting streak coming into the game and is batting .275 in May after a .254 April. … Garin Cecchini went 1-for-2 with an RBI and two walks. On the season he has earned 25 free passes and only struck out 21 times. He also stole a base, his 12th of the season and first since May 11th. … Starter Kyle Stroup allowed a season high 6 earned runs and 11 hits, taking his first loss of May.

HIGHLIGHTS: Another team doomed from the get-go, the Drive (13-33) were hit up for 6 first-inning runs by the RiverDogs who scored in 6 of 8 innings. Greenville is now in a five-game slide, their third losing streak of 5 or more games this month. … Mookie Betts extended his hitting streak to a league best 17 games with a 3-for-5 effort. He also scored two runs, to run his season total to 31, seventh most in the South Atlantic League. Betts is batting .384 in May after a .157 April. … For the second straight start Cody Kukuk lasted only 2/3 of an inning. He threw 41 pitches, walked 3, allowed a hit and 2 earned runs as the RiverDogs batted around in the first. …

HIGHLIGHTS: An pre-noon affair turned into a heck of a pitcher’s duel in front of a capacity crowd of 6,201 at New Britain Stadium. … Rock Cats starter Logan Darnell threw 8 scoreless innings, allowing 6 hits and a walk while striking out a season-high 9 batters. It’s the second time in three starts that he has gone 8 innings and his 62 frames this season are second most in the Eastern League. Darnell has logged 23 innings in his last three starts and has allowed 4 earned runs, 19 hits and 2 walks. … Daniel Ortiz (1-for-3) provided the game’s only run when he took a 2-2 Mark Cohoon offering to right for a solo home run. … Cohoon pitched a complete game, allowing 6 hits and a walk while striking out 7.
