New Hampshire Fisher Cats – Sean Nolin (3-4, 2.96 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, 25 Ks)
at Portland Sea Dogs – Franklin Morales (rehab start)
NOTE: A win today will give the Sea Dogs their first series win since they took 2 of 3 from Reading, May 6-8. The Fisher Cats have managed to split 3 of the 5 four-game series that they have been involved in this season. Franklin Morales will be making his fifth rehab start and will benefit from having big league catcher David Ross in tow as he also makes what is expected to be his only rehab appearance before rejoining Boston. New Hampshire’s Sean Nolin looks to keep things rolling in his fourth start of the season. In picking up two straight wins he did not allow a run in his last two starts, going 12 innings, striking out 13 while allowing 8 hits and 4 walks.
Winston-Salem Dash – Christopher Beck (2-6, 2.80 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 23 Ks)
at Salem Red Sox – Kyle Stroup (2-2, 3.78 ERA, 1.62 WHIP, 26 Ks)
Winston-Salem Dash – N/A
at Salem Red Sox – Mike McCarthy (2-2, 4.34 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, 33 Ks)
NOTE: The Salem Red Sox will play their second double header of the season, having dropped two versus Carolina exactly two weeks ago. Henry Owens, who was schedule to pitch in last night’s game, will make way for Kyle Stroup in the first game, while Mike McCarthy gets the ball in game two for Salem. Both pitchers are coming off starts versus the Frederick Keys in which they each allowed just one earned run.
Pawtucket Red Sox – Alfredo Aceves (2-1, 2.13 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, 21 Ks)
at Lousiville Bats – Tony Cingrani (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.35 WHIP, 26 Ks)
NOTE: The PawSox hit the road for an eight game trip, starting with a four game set in Louisville tonight. Alfedro Aceves makes his fourth start since being assigned to Pawtucket from Boston. He has logged 23 innings thus far, going at least 5 frames in each of his outings. Tony Cingrani, who made his first six big league starts earlier this season, is considered to be the Cincinnati Reds top pitching prospect. In his three starts for the Bats he has allowed just 3 hits and 2 walks.
Greenville Drive – Cody Kukuk (2-5, 5.10 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, 25 Ks)
at Charleston RiverDogs – Jose Campos (1-1, 3.86 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 26 Ks)
NOTE: With nine games to play in May the Drive are just three losses from a 20 loss month. Here’s to hoping for additional rainouts! Cody Kukuk suffered his worst outing as a pro against Charleston last Saturday. He couldn’t get out of the first inning after allowing 5 walks and 4 earned runs. On the flip side, the lefty is doing a great job at inducing ground ball outs and has allowed only one home run all season.
New England teams
Binghamton Mets – Mark Cahoon (3-1, 3.96 ERA, 1.76 WHIP, 27 Ks)
at New Britain Rock Cats – Logan Darnell (3-3, 2.83 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 40 Ks)
NOTE: Rise and shine, its getaway day as the Rock Cats look to salvage a split in this four game series. Logan Darnell, who will be making his tenth start of the season, comes into the game with 54 innings of work under his belt, fourth most in the E.L. In his last two starts he has allowed 4 earned runs in 15 innings, struck out 11, walked only 1, but picked up losses in both outings.
