The Binghamton University product took to the hill for only one start during the week, but made it stick with an eight-inning scoreless effort against the Carolina Mudcats on the 4th.
Augliera allowed just four hits in the game and used 97 pitches to retire 24 of the 27 batters he faced, including seven by strikeout and 11 via ground out, leading Salem to a 3-0 victory.
This year Augliera, a fifth-round selection of the Red Sox in the 2012 draft, is 6-5 with a 4.25 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and 2.41:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 16 starts. Last season with Lowell, Augliera stuck out 43 batters and walked only three in 38 2/3 innings.
It is the third time this season that a Salem Red Sox player garnered weekly honors in the Carolina League, with both prior nods going to Garin Cecchini as Batter of the Week for the periods of April 22-28 and May 6-12.
