300oswalt.jpgDid you happen to catch the side-effect of Ryan Howard getting tossed last night in the 14th inning of the Phillies-Astros game?

Star pitcher Roy Oswalt came into the game to play left field in the top of the 15th. When Howard was ejected, Raul Ibanez moved to first base, and Oswalt became a position player.

Then, both of them saw defensive action. Oswalt caught a liner by Astros catcher Jason Castro, and Ibanez made a diving putout on a chopper-style bunt by Michael Bourn. Oswalt also came to the plate in the bottom of the 16th and grounded out for the final out. The Astros won, 4-2.

Watch video of the entire sequence, from Howard's ejection to Oswalt's at-bat, on mlb.com.
