300firemaned.jpgThe Jets' most famous cheerleader, Fireman Ed, has been charged with simple assault as a result of an August altercation with a Giants fan at the New Meadowlands Stadium.

There's plenty of video out there claiming to be the actual altercation, one of which is embedded below. If that's all it was, some pushing and shoving on both sides, it seems more like the Giants fan only pressed the issue -- a New Jersey judge agreed to charge Fireman Ed following a probable cause hearing, according to the Newark Star-Ledger -- for the attention he knew it would garner.

And possibly revenge. The Giants fan, Christopher Black, was arrested after the incident, charged with improper behavior (???), and later banned from the Meadowlands, according to the Star-Ledger.

The saga continues in October, when both will appear in court.
