Callers to sports radio programs achieving pseudo-celebrity status is nothing new.

Around here, there's Frank from Gloucester and Louie from the Cape, and in New York, WFAN once hired one of its more entertaining callers to work at the station.

One regular to an Orlando, Fla., sports talk show has gained some fame that's worth a mention here because of the Boston connection.

"Obnoxious Boston Fan Bill," has been calling the "Open Mike" show featuring Orlando Sentinel sports columnist Mike Bianchi since the show debuted a few months ago, and he's usually permitted to perform a brief routine of one-liners and quips about sports with a heavy slant toward all things Boston.

UPDATE, 2:57 p.m.: The Buzz has just made contact with Obnoxious Boston Fan Bill, and turns out he is indeed from the Boston area and was in the stands at Fenway for the Bucky Dent homer.

He describes his persona as "a mix between Denis Leary and Larry the Cable Guy - except I have a lot less money, talent or fame."

Last week, he compared the Patriots' loss to "Ralphie shooting out both his eyes and then being eaten by the Bumphus hounds and "Air Bud" being run over by a school bus."

In a segment on Monday's show, Obnoxious Boston Fan Bill lays into Otis Smith, Gilbert Arenas, Jay Cutler and of course, Rex Ryan. Best line: "Tom Brady having foot surgery, that's like half a porno for Ryan." He also sings a tribute to Kevin Garnett.

Oh yeah, he also has a Facebook page. The address is listed as 4 Yawkey Way, Orlando.
