Hearing the news that Randy Edsall was leaving the University of Connecticut to coach football somewhere else was not surprising in the least. His name came up in regard to countless openings over the past several years.

But the news his departure was a done deal reminded me of this video that appeared on the Hartford Courant's web site in October, after the Huskies had lost to Louisville.

Edsall was asked to respond to critics who said he should be fired. You just can't help but wonder, because this talk came after a tough start to a season that ended with a BCS bowl appearance: Did that lack of faith start to tip the scales and make Edsall look for options?
