Former Red Sox slugger Manny Ramirez has decided to retire from baseball, according to Major League Baseball.

The following statement was posted on the official Twitter account of Major League Baseball (@MLB):

Manny Ramirez informs MLB he is retiring. MLB recently notified Manny of an issue under MLB’s drug prevention & treatment program.
