US District Court Judge Susan Richard Nelson has ruled in favor of the NFL players and lifted the owners' lockout, according to an ESPN report.

The judge's ruling is expected to be made public sometime after 6 p.m.

Nelson granted a motion by the players for a preliminary injunction in their lawsuit against the owners, who locked players out on March 11 after failing to reach a new collective bargaining agreement.

The NFL is expected to appeal and seek a stay of Nelson's ruling. According to Albert Breer of the NFL Network, Nelson decided not to grant a stay to her decision, which means the NFL must seek one in the US Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit.
