From the mildly interesting press release department, this came in from the Red Sox today:
BOSTON, MA -- The 2011 MLB season may be only half over, but the Monster Roast Beef sandwich is already a winner.
With 54 percent of the more than 6,600 votes cast*, the thinly sliced Boar’s Head roast beef sandwich, topped with sautéed onions smothered in barbecue sauce, crispy onions and homemade pickles on a Kaiser roll, beat out the Turkey Gobbler, a sliced Boar’s Head turkey with cranberry sauce, topped with hot stuffing and gravy on a Kaiser roll, as Red Sox fans’ choice to become the featured item on Fenway Park’s menu for the remainder of the season.
During the first half of the season, the Red Sox and ARAMARK – the team’s exclusive food and beverage partner – asked fans to choose their favorite new sandwich from the two finalists. Due to the popularity of the Turkey Gobbler, it has also earned itself a permanent position on the roster and will remain on the menu through the 2011 season.
Both sandwiches are served with chips and are available on the Big Concourse (section 42), Right field concourse (section 8) and 3rd Base concourse (section 29), and through In-Seat Service.
*The winning sandwich was determined by total sandwich sales and votes cast online.
