LeBron knows Fenway Sports Group playbook

The Liverpool Football Club is in a bit of a slump, having won only two of its last six following a 1-1 tie with Norwich today.

One of its owners, NBA star LeBron James, paid the team a little visit recently, and gave them all some pretty sweet Beats by Dr. Dre headphones (the really good ones list at $299 on bestbuy.com).

Sound familiar?

Perhaps he trying to get them to snap out of their funk, because the move was right out of the playbook for the Fenway Sports Group, which owns Liverpool and sold a piece to LeBron.

Fenway Sports Group also owns the Boston Red Sox, of course, and held a now-infamous yacht party for the Red Sox after players griped about the schedule. That little shindig included gifting the players with $300 headphones.

The Red Sox went on to a 7-20 record in September and missed the playoffs.

There's a long way to go yet for Liverpool, but the coincidence here is just too good to overlook.
