The Athletics are likely to sign Manny Ramirez just before or soon after the start of spring training, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The former Red Sox star, who will have to serve a 50-game suspension for violating baseball’s drug policy if he is signed, would be the designated hitter, not an outfielder, the newspaper reported.
