Peyton Manning, Colts to part ways
Quarterback Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts will part ways, according to a report by ESPN football reporter Chris Mortensen.
An official announcement is expected Wednesday.
Manning, who spent 14 years in Indianapolis and won four MVP awards and a Super Bowl, was due a $28 million bonus, but instead will become a free agent. He missed the entire 2011 season because of a neck injury.
Manning holds all of the Colts's major passing records. But the Colts, who have the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft in April, appear ready to start fresh at the position. Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck and Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III are projected as the top choices.
