Cannons goalie Jordan Burke earns second defensive player of week award
After leading the Boston Cannons to a 16-8 win against the Charlotte Hounds with 15 saves on Saturday, goalie Jordan Burke was named the Major League Lacrosse defensive player of the week.
Burke allowed four goals in his 53 minutes, 39 seconds of playing time. Charlotte's leading scorers, Stephen Berger and Matt Danowski, did not score against Burke.
Burke leads MLL with 91 saves this season. He has a .583 save percentage, and a 9.36 goals against average.
"Jordan's a warrior," Cannons coach Steve Duffy said. "It was a warrior effort Saturday night in goal. He made crucial saves at crucial times when we needed him, as he's done all season."
It is Burke’s second Player of the Week award this season.
