NBA source: Celtics-Clippers talks back on
The Clippers have reached out to the Celtics to restart trade talks, Globe NBA writer Gary Washburn is reporting.
An NBA source told Washburn that the Clippers are determined to get a deal done.
"We'll see if they sweeten the pot for the Celtics," Washburn Tweeted. "Here we go again."
If the Celtics have to look for a new coach, they are likely going to look young and consider someone like Miami assistant coach David Fizdale, Washburn said.
The Celtics and Clippers had been discussing a deal involving Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett until team president Danny Ainge called the deal "dead" on Tuesday.
Adrian Wojnarowski, columnist for Yahoo! Sports/NBA Insider, first reported on Wednesday that talks had begun again. Wojnarowski reported that Clippers free agent Chris Paul nudged his team to give the deal another try.
Privately, Clippers officials are optimistic, sources told Wojnarowski.
