Yelle aboard

Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli announced that the club has signed veteran center Stephane Yelle. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Yelle, 34, spent the past five seasons with the Calgary Flames, but he made his name while playing on the Colorado Avalanche’s Stanley Cup-winning teams in 1996 and 2001.

The 12-year veteran has played 844 regular season games and 154 postseason contests in his career, and never missed a playoff game during the Avalanche’s two championship seasons.

He played a total of seven seasons in Colorado, appearing in 505 games with 54 goals and 89 assists.

He was traded to the Flames Oct. 1, 2002, along with Chris Drury in exchange for Dean McAmmond, Derek Morris, and Jeff Shantz.

During his five seasons in Calgary, he scored 31 goals and added 65 assists. Last season, he had three goals and nine assists in 74 regular season games, then added a pair of goals in seven postseason games.
