The Bruins have signed camp invitee Zach McKelvie to a one-year entry-level contract. The defenseman didn’t participate in on-ice activities during development camp because he is recovering from labrum surgery. McKelvie tore the labrum and underwent the procedure two months ago.
The 24-year-old McKelvie played four years of college hockey at Army. Last season, McKelvie scored five goals and 12 assists in 33 games. McKelvie is considered an excellent skater and a character player who should provide defensive depth for Providence. McKelvie is hoping to participate in rookie camp if he’s cleared for contact.
