WILMINGTON — The Bruins wrapped up their fifth annual development camp with their second scrimmage in the last two days.
Overall, Claude Julien was pleased with what he saw. Julien watched the last two scrimmages and trained his eyes not just on high-end picks like Dougie Hamilton, Jared Knight, Ryan Spooner, and Tommy Cross, but some of the lower-tier players too.
“I’ve also seen some other guys that caught my eye as well,” Julien said. “It’s just a matter of staying on top of things and seeing where some of the guys down on the road might fit in.”

Anthony Camara got a scare when he missed a check and went headfirst into one of the stanchions. But Camara shook off the injury and finished the session.
* GM Peter Chiarelli said he continues to negotiate with Brad Marchand’s agent.
* Benoit Pouliot is from Alfred, Ontario, approximately an hour east of Ottawa, which Julien has called home. Julien compared Pouliot to Nathan Horton — a young, skilled, high-round pick with questions regarding his consistency. Pouliot projects to be a third-line wing. “He’s going to be a really good acquisition,” Julien said. “His skill level is extremely high. I know a lot of people seem to think he’s underachieved. At the same time, we feel that we probably will be able to give him a better opportunity here with the space that’s open for him. From what I saw when he played with Montreal, there were times he was really physical. We saw him fight with [David] Krejci, but also be involved in the corners and being physically engaged. In this surrounding here, knowing he’s got good support — our team has everybody’s backs — I think it’s going to be a better situation for him. At the same time, we expect him to come in and demonstrate his skills and use the skills that everybody thinks he has.”
* Ryan Spooner and Jared Knight could push for NHL jobs in training camp. But Chiarelli issued a reminder of the tier above them, which includes Jordan Caron, Jamie Arniel, and Max Sauve. The guess here is that Spooner and Knight go back to junior if everything remains status quo.
