Bruins will not sign Chris Clark

The Bruins will not sign Chris Clark to a contract, according to someone familiar with the decision. Clark was invited to camp on a tryout basis. He remains an unrestricted free agent, free to sign with any team.

The former Washington captain projected to be a bottom-six forward if he made the roster. In the preseason finale, Clark skated on the fourth line with Gregory Campbell and Lane MacDermid. Clark tangled with Islanders tough guy Micheal Haley and had his nose broken during the fight.

The last two days, Clark was the fourth forward on the fourth line.

The decision affirms that Jordan Caron will be on tomorrow’s roster, either as the third-line left wing or healthy scratch. It also indicates the Bruins are comfortable with their AHL depth if injuries strike. MacDermid and Jamie Arniel could be bottom-six fill-ins with the big club.
