TORONTO – Brendan Shanahan sure is busy these days.
A Bruins game has yielded yet another hearing with the Department of Player Safety, this time after Toronto’s Dion Phaneuf crunched Kevan Miller into the boards from behind near the end of the third period in Sunday night’s Bruins-Maple Leafs game.
The NHL confirmed that Phaneuf’s hearing will happen on Tuesday by phone, meaning that it can be no longer than five games.
Brooks Orpik will not have a hearing for his hit on Loui Eriksson in Saturday’s game.
Shawn Thornton’s hearing, which is in person, is unlikely to occur until later in the week. Thornton is suspended indefinitely, and is not on this road trip with the Bruins.
