Dougie Hamilton out 2-4 weeks

CALGARY, Alberta — Remember when the Bruins had seven healthy NHL-caliber defensemen?

Feels like a long time ago.

Coach Claude Julien announced today that Dougie Hamilton will be out 2-4 weeks with the injury he sustained in the Bruins game in Toronto Sunday. Hamilton was sent back to Boston after that game and examined, and the news apparently wasn’t good.

Hamilton appeared to hurt his left leg in the first period of Sunday’s game. He was seen flexing it, and left the game shortly thereafter. He played just 5:58 in the game.

The news came just two days after the Bruins announced that center Chris Kelly would miss 4-6 weeks with a fractured fibula.

The team is down to just six healthy defensemen in Calgary. Johnny Boychuk will return to the ice tonight after suffering back spasms after being hit into the boards last Thursday in Montreal. He felt much better today after skating Monday for the first time since the incident.

Adam McQuaid remains out, and has not yet skated since reinjuring himself.
