Watch: Tim Thomas high-sticks Carl Soderberg

Panthers goalie Tim Thomas played his first game on TD Garden ice since leaving the Bruins in 2012, and things didn’t go well for him – the Bruins won, 6-2.

One play will linger. Late in the third period, Thomas swung his stick at Carl Soderberg, who had run into Thomas as he attacked the crease. Thomas was called for high-sticking, although it happened with four seconds left.

“The play before that he did quite a hard jab and then all of a sudden the puck is up in the air, you’re catching it, and his stick is in my throat,” Thomas said. “With less than a minute left in a game and they’re up by four goals, 6-2, I took exception to that.”

Many speculated the incident could be reviewed by the NHL Department of Player Safety.
