Shawn Thornton Leaves Game 2 With Leg Injury; Returns

Bruins forward Shawn Thornton suffered an apparent leg injury early in the third period of Game 2 after a collision with Montreal’s P.K. Subban.

As Thornton left the penalty box after serving a bench minor for the Bruins, he went to check Subban, who lowered his body to avoid the hit and sent Thornton awkwardly into the boards by the Bruins’ bench.

Thronton could not put any weight on his leg and had to be helped off the ice and to the bench. As he was helped off, he appeared to be yelling towards the Canadiens’ bench.

In injury scare for the Bruins may have been averted though, as Thornton returned to the game a few minutes later.
