Pierce plays with pain

Los Angeles – Celtics All-Star forward Paul Pierce scored 20 points despite playing with a dislocated right thumb injury he suffered in the third quarter of a 93-91 loss to the Clippers on Wednesday night. Pierce said after the game that he doesn’t expect a long-term problem with the thumb that was heavily wrapped afterward.
“It’s just sore right now, throbbing. I dislocated it a couple times. X-rays negative. It should be all right..,” Pierce said. “I don’t know if it really affected me. It was definitely sore. It was manageable. It’s never happened to me before.”
