Celtics coach Doc Rivers did not appear pressed to bring Kevin Garnett back from a hyperextended right knee. He is going to allow his All-Star forward plenty of rest and said it could be another “10 days” before Garnett returns to action. That would put his return as Jan. 13 against the New Jersey Nets, meaning he would miss five more games.
“At least you know it’s not going to be a lot longer than that,” Rivers said. “But you don’t know how quickly he can come back from that.”
Rivers said the history of time missed with hyperextended knees is no more than three weeks, and Garnett has already sat out the past five days.
