Captain Paul Pierce (right thumb) returned to training Monday and will be in the starting lineup when the Celtics visit Detroit Tuesday night. But center Kendrick Perkins (flu symptoms) did not practice and is doubtful for the game.
“It felt good going up and down the court,” said Pierce, who missed the last three Celtic games. “I was able to catch the ball, dribble, and shoot it. Rest was good for me, to get my body back and I should be ready to go. If I played a couple games ago and hit it, it would have hurt really bad.”
