Ray Allen secures NBA Finals record

LOS ANGELES — Ray Allen secured the NBA Finals record for 3-pointers after hitting eight through the first three quarters against the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 2.

His record of eight 3-pointers bests Kenny Smith’s seven for Houston against Orlando, June 7, 1995, and Scottie Pippen’s seven for Chicago against Utah, June 6, 1997.

In 2008, Allen tied the previous record with seven 3-pointers in Game 6 against the Lakers to help the Celtics clinch the championship.
