Final: Celtics 100, Bucks 91

Final score, Celtics, 100-91: The Celtics’ defense picked up Thursday night where it left off earlier in the week. The Celtics took a 100-91 win over the Milwaukee Bucks, snapping the Bucks’ six-game winning streak, during which they had averaged 112 points per game.

The Celtics, who took a 77-73 win over Atlanta Monday, improved their record to 4-3 during an eight-game, 13-day road trip which concludes Friday in Philadelphia.

Paul Pierce scored 25 points and Kevin Garnett had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Celtics. Greg Stiemsma, playing before a home crowd, had six points, five blocks, and four rebounds, playing the final quarter with five fouls.

Fourth quarter, 5:55, Celtics, 90-77: The Celtics’ defense kicked into gear as they went on a 16-4 run.

End of third quarter, Celtics, 74-71: Paul Pierce scored the first eight Celtic points of the half as both teams started the half slowly. No other Celtic scored until Greg Stiemsma hit a 15-footer with 3:52 remaining for a 67-64 lead. The Bucks missed their first seven shots of the half.

End of first half, Bucks 58-56: Paul Pierce scored 11 points in the opening quarter, but was scoreless in the second quarter. The Bucks concluded the half with an 11-2 run over the final 2:30.

Second quarter, 1:35, Celtics 54-53: Ersan Ilysova drew a foul in transition and had a chance to tie the score with a free throw.

Second quarter, 3:15, Celtics 50-45: Both teams had possessions while the Celtics’ Brandon Bass was down near the 3-point line with an apparent right ankle injury.

End of first quarter: Celtics 35, Bucks 29. Rajon Rondo sank a three-quarter court shot just after the buzzer, an official re-play negating the basket. Paul Pierce scored 11 points for the Celtics.
