The Celtics landed at least one big man during this waiver period, and will sign former Cleveland Cavalier Ryan Hollins Thursday night when he clears waivers, according to two NBA sources.
Hollins, 27, played 24 games with the Cavaliers, averaging 3.7 points and 2.3 rebounds before asking for his release. Hollins, at 6 feet 11 inches, has also played with Charlotte, Dallas and Minnesota after being a Charlotte second-round pick in 2006 out of UCLA. Hollins is a defensive-minded center and has had his share of brush-ups with opposing players because of hard fouls.
His best season was in 2009-10 when he averaged 6.1 points and 2.9 rebounds in 73 games. Hollins is expected to be available for Friday’s game at Philadelphia.
