Get over last night yet?
You don’t have to come down from that high anytime soon, but the Celtics do. Last night’s win over Miami was the signature win for the Celtics to date, but they’ve got a quick turnaround tonight at TD Garden against a Hawks team that’s been off since Saturday. It’s not a recipe for an easy game, but the Celtics have consistently surprised us over the last couple of months. Who am I to say they won’t do it again?
Here are the details for tonight’s game:
Tip-off: 8 p.m.
Records: Celtics (33-24), Hawks (34-23)
Broadcast info: CSNNE (Mike Gorman and Tom Heinsohn), WEEI 93.7 FM/850 AM (Sean Grande and Cedric Maxwell)
PG: Rajon Rondo
SG: Avery Bradley
SF: Paul Pierce
PF: Brandon Bass
C: Kevin Garnett
PG: Kirk Hinrich
SG: Jeff Teague
SF: Joe Johnson
PF: Josh Smith
C: Zaza Pachulia
Standings: Very obviously, this is a battle between two teams fighting for playoff positioning. The Celtics are currently slotted as the No. 4 seed by virtue of their lead in the Atlantic Division, and the division is ultimately where they need to focus to maintain a seeding in the top four. But the Celtics actually trail the Hawks by a game, and the C’s wouldn’t get homecourt advantage unless they finish with a better record than Atlanta. There’s plenty to play for.
Kevin freaking Garnett: KG’s stat line last night: 24 points on 11-of-13 shooting, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks in 33 minutes. That’s the definition of efficient.
There’s more: The Celtics play tonight and have tomorrow off before playing three games in three nights over the weekend. The end of the season will be here in the blink of an eye.
