Celtics will open season with Raptors

Two NBA sources told the Globe that the Celtics will open their 2013-14 season against the Toronto Raptors. The official NBA schedule is set to be released tonight at 6 p.m.

The opener against the Raptors will signal the beginning of the Brad Stevens era but also a sign that the Celtics — without Paul Pierce, Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett — are no longer a major television draw. They have usually opened the season with a high-profile, nationally televised game against teams such as the Miami Heat the past several years.
