Kentucky power forward Julius Randle, a projected lottery pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, may need surgery on his right foot after the draft on June 26, league sources tell Yahoo! Sports.
Randle is expected to miss six to eight weeks following the procedure, putting his return to the court close to the start of training camp. If Randle undergoes surgery, he would miss the summer league. The Celtics are scheduled to participate in the Orlando summer league, which runs from July 5 through July 11.
The 6-foot-9 Randle is still expected to work out for the Celtics Friday in Waltham. League executives told Yahoo! Randle may drop in the first round of the draft, but not because of the injury. There are questions as to how high Randle’s ceiling is, though his floor appears to be higher than many other first-rounders.
