Rivers is the son of former Celtics head coach Doc Rivers. The second-year guard was drafted by the Pelicans at the no. 10 spot in 2012. The former Duke star has been an inconsistent member of the Pelicans rotation since entering the NBA, averaging just 7 points per game on 39 percent shooting from the field during 130 career games.
Rivers is scheduled to earn $2.4 million dollars next season.
