“Our goal is to make this a great community event, something fun and healthy to do before the football game and Thanksgiving Day meal,’’ said Chaoui, a breast-cancer survivor who continued to run competitively during chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
“The race is growing each day, so we’re still looking for volunteers,’’ she noted.

The registration fee is waived for cancer survivors. Also, race volunteers will get free entry to the Miss Santa Holiday 5K, to be held Dec. 15 along the Charles River in Boston.
Junior NEPGA prize goes to Clemens
Marshall Clemens, 15, of Weston, has been named 2012 Junior Player of the Year by the New England Professional Golf Association.
He played in 23 NEPGA Junior Tour events, winning three, finishing second once, and posting seven third-place finishes. He is one of three students from Massachusetts attending the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
