The Harvard baseball team has been forced to miss its at-bat at Fenway Park today, and coach Joe Walsh is steamed.
The Crimson were supposed to play the University of Massachusetts at Fenway in the second round of the Beanpot. (First-round games were at Fraser Field in Lynn.)
Instead, the Crimson will host Ivy League opponent Yale today at 1 p.m. in a doubleheader postponed from April 15 because of rain.
"We appreciated the fact that we're guests over there [Fenway]," said Walsh. "It's an honor to play over there.
"The Yale coach [John Stuper], he got to play in The Show, he was in the big leagues. I hope he hasn't forgotten what it means to the kids.
"That's not just a big league park -- that's Fenway."
With six games left in the season, Harvard (14-15, 9-5 Ivy) is tied for first place in the Rolfe Division with Brown. Yale (14-23, 6-8) is three games back.
Yale rejected Walsh's offer to reschedule the games, and Ivy executive director Jeff Orleans concurred.
UMass (11-17) might have been left in the dugout, but Holy Cross (10-18) agreed to step in for Harvard.
"We would have played any day this week," said Walsh.
"It's only a partial tear," said Lindsey. "But they have to go in and do the surgery."
