Kent Graham hit a two-run homer and West Roxbury's Michael Regan stranded the potential tying and winning runs in the ninth, as the Bantams held off Linfield, 6-5, last night at the NCAA Division 3 Baseball Championship in Appleton, Wis.
The Bantams (43-0), who extended their Division 3 national record win streak, will face Johns Hopkins tonight in a winner's bracket game.
Linfield's Rhett Fenton hit a three-run homer in the eighth off Jeremiah Bayer (9-0) to cut Trinity's lead to one. Bayer allowed five runs (three earned) and seven hits in eight innings.
NCAA Division 2 baseball - Aided by two Franklin Pierce errors, Central Missouri tied the game with six runs in the ninth inning and went ahead for the first time in the 11th when Kyle Vazquez hit a batter with the bases loaded, and the Mules held on to stun Franklin Pierce, 13-12, in the teams' first game at the double-elimination tournament in Sauget, Ill.
Blaine Rutledge drove in four runs and Clay Weatherford scored four for Central Missouri (46-15). Randy Bernosky drove in three runs for Franklin Pierce (43-14), which will face Shippensburg tomorrow.
America East baseball - For eight innings, Hull's Justin Albert looked capable of pitching Vermont's seventh straight complete game. But Albert got knocked around in the ninth, and the Catamounts got knocked out of the conference tournament.
Murphy Smith limited the Catamounts to two hits over eight innings, and Ryan Holley's RBI single sparked a four-run ninth as top-seeded Binghamton escaped with a 4-0 win in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Bearcats were eliminated by Stony Brook, 6-0, last night. With the conference title, the Seawolves secured a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

NCAA Division 3 - At the championships in Oshkosh, Wis., Renee Thompson finished eighth in the 400-meter dash (57.48 seconds) and helped Wheaton's 4 x 400-meter relay team finish third.Thompson, Brockton's Chizoba Ezeigwe, Natana Jules, and Kelly Libert finished the relay in 3:46.31. Ezeigwe, a former Thayer Academy standout, earned her seventh All-America honor with her performance in the relay, the last women's event.
The Keene State women finished third in Oshkosh with 29 points. Wisconsin-River Falls and Illinois Wesleyan tied for first with 35 points. Wartburg was second with 34. Eight of the Owls' points came from Crystal Blamy's national championship in the high jump Friday. Jennifer Adams accounted for 13 points, ending her career with a third-place finish in the 5,000 meters (16:54.79).
Samantha Hirsh, a Keene State junior from Holliston, finished fourth in the javelin (147 feet).
In the men's event, Williams's Macklin Chaffee finished second in the 1,500 (3:47.43) and the Ephs' Andrew Arons took third in the 200 (21.40).![]()
