Track and field
Gay back with fast 200 in Grand Prix
Tyson Gay, the reigning world champion, ran the third-fastest time ever in the 200 meters in winning at the Reebok Grand Prix in New York in 19.58 seconds. The only faster times are Usain Bolt's world record last year of 19.30 and Michael Johnson's 19.32 in 1996. Gay hurt his hamstring in the 200 at last year's US Olympic trials and didn't win a medal at the Beijing Games after coming in as the world champion in the 100 and 200. Gay's previous personal best was 19.62 seconds in 2007. He blew away a strong field, beating second-place finisher Wallace Spearmon by 0.4 seconds. American Mike Rodgers was the surprise winner in the men's 100 in 9.93, while former world record-holder Asafa Powell was seventh.

"I got the news all of a sudden and am happy I was able to get another opportunity," Tabuse said at a news conference. Tabuse played briefly for Phoenix in the 2004-05 season. He scored 7 points against Atlanta in his first NBA game but was waived by the Suns Dec. 16, 2004.
