2 BC basketball players suspended

Posted by November 5, 2006 02:37 PM

Boston College basketball coach Al Skinner today announced the suspension of junior center Sean Williams and junior forward Akida McLain for a violation of team rules.

Williams, a 6-foot-10-inch, 230-pounder from Houston, who was projected as a starter on BC's basketball team, will sit out the first two regular-season games and will not be eligible to return to the team until its Nov. 22 nonconference date at Providence.

McLain, a 6-8, 220-pounder from Pittsburgh, will sit out the first nine games of the regular season and will not return until BC's Dec. 23 contest at Kansas.

Both players served suspensions at the start of last season: McLain the first seven; Williams the first nine. Both were present on BC's bench for today's preseason exhibition against St. Francis Xavier.
