Bowl possibilities for BC
One of the many positive byproducts of Boston College's 27-17 win over Florida State Saturday night was that it enhanced the Eagles' bowl possibilities.
With seven victories already in the bank, BC leapfrogged the Congressional Bowl in Washington and the Humanitarian Bowl in Boise, ID. The Eagles would have passed on the Congressional Bowl regardless because the Dec. 20th game is at the end of exam week.
So with two games remaining in the regular season, the most likely bowl possibilities for the Eagles are:
Orange Bowl: If they are the ACC champions.
Music City Bowl: If they win both remaining regular season games but lose the ACC title game.
Emerald Bowl: If they split or lose their two remaining regular season games against Wake Forest and Maryland.
Although the ACC has bowl arrangements for nine of its teams, a few bowls seem unlikely for the Eagles:
Gator Bowl: Officials are focusing on inviting Notre Dame. Why would they want a rematch of a regular season game in which BC spanked the Irish, 17-0? They are more likely to try to add Miami or Florida State.
Chick-fil-A Bowl: This bowl passed on a Matt Ryan-led team last season. It could take BC coming off a loss in the championship game with four losses, but it is more likely to take a team from the ACC Coastal Division such as North Carolina, Miami, or Virginia Tech.
Champs Sports Bowl: The Eagles went there last season.
Meineke Car Care Bowl: BC has played in that bowl twice in the last four seasons.
Which leaves the most likely destinations as the . . .
Music City Bowl: BC's last appearance was in 2001, when they knocked off Georgia.
. . . and the . . .
Emerald Bowl: BC's last appearance was in 2003, when they defeated Colorado State.
Both would work. The Emerald Bowl is Dec. 27th and the Music City Bowl is New Year's Eve afternoon against either a Pac-10 or Southeastern Conference opponent.

Notre Dame to the Gator Bowl? When they can't beat anybody. That's more outrageous than the debate over a BCS playoff system.
How about the toilet bowl, since we all know BC is a fraud school anyway. Congrats again on winning 23 consecutive bowl games nobody has ever heard of.
Sorry Dave, exactly what bowl will B.U. be hugging around the holidays.
Wow Dave....Wow. ......Bitter??????....and Why?????
Hey Dave.
Go easy on BC they have won some significant bowl games and own the longest streak in the nation.
As a BC grad, you need to relax, I can not image an idiot like you could even get into BC or let alone fill out the admission application.....
I am a UMASS grad, but grew up a HUGE BC football fan. I am disappointed that BC needs to run the table to get a decent bowl game. The emerald bowl and the music city bowl would be a big disappontment. I am tired of hearing that BC doesnt travel well. BC should be in the gator or chic fil a bowl if the go to the acc champ game
It's not BC's fault that there are now 50 different bowl games. A lot of these bowls are locked in to certain conferences so BC cannot go to them. It's all about money so some of these bowls may have different sponsors names attached to them next year. Anyway, BC was always 1 win away from going to a top notch (after New Year's Day) bowl game. Supposedly, that is why Tom O'Brien left for NC State. How did that work out Tom? BC has 3 things working against it while it recruits. 1. Small stadium for an ACC team. 2. Tough academic standards 3. Cold weather city. So, the question remains, would you rather see BC go to a mid-level bowl game and win or go to a top tier bowl game and lose?
Why doubt that they can win 3 more games? Where's the faith? Isn't BC a Jesuit school?
Orange Bowl here we come!
