Status quo at QB for Boston College.

Which means that Justin Tuggle will start in the Eagles' ACC opener at Clemson on Saturday, as he had done in the Eagles' two opening victories over Northeastern and Kent State.

But both QBs will play.

"We'll do what we did before,'' said Spaziani before practice today. "Play two guys, but we'll play the guy with the hot hand.''

Which means it could either be Tuggle or David Shinskie, who has been the QB in waiting..
Shinskie said he is getting used to the routine of football after spending the past seven years playing minor league baseball. "It's challenging taking the hits,'' said Shinskie, who is also getting used to being a student again after his baseball hiatus "I just came from a theater class,'' he said ."We're reading a Doll House now.''

When asked what role he would like to play, he said, "Football player. QB.'

His role right now is more of a back up nature. "He (Tuggle) takes the snaps,'' said Shinskie."I will come in every once in awhile and get some reps with the first team. But you have to go out and practice like you are going to play. I need to start playing faster, make something happen. Either you do it or you will be out of the game.'

Tuggle's attitude is the same.

"Everything is pretty much the same,'' said Tuggle. "I'm not paying too much attention to it. I'm just trying to get ready to play.''

Defensive co-captain Mike McLaughlin, who is recovering from a torn Achilles Tendon during a workout last March is in full pads this week and will dress for the Clemson game. "He might not get his uniform dirty,'' said Spaziani. "But he will dress. It's up to him. He just has to come back at his own pace and see what he can do.''...Nathan Richman has moved to first team on the depth chart at left guard over Cleary after a slow summer recovering from an ankle injury. Spaziani says he will use both players.

Linebacker Mark Herzlich, who will miss this season as he undergoes chemo therapy treatments for cancer, will also travel with the team. "I will go to the game,'' said Herzlich, who has been an unofficial coach at each game. "Then I will go down to Atlanta and see Matt (former BC QB and starting Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan) and then go back home (to Pennsylvania) for a week of chemo treatments and then drive up here next Friday for the game (against Wake Forests),'' said Herzlich.
