BC opens with Weber State
After a week of scrambling to find an opponent for its season opener next Sept. 4th, the Boston College football team will face Weber State, an FCS team from the Big Sky Conference, which finished this season with a 7-5 record after losing to William & Mary in the FCS playoffs..
"We have a tentative agreement,'' said BC athletic director Gene DeFilippo on Friday morning.
DeFilippo had been in the scramble mode to find an opponent for the Eagles following the decision by Hofstra--the Eagles original opening game opponent--to drop football. "They (Weber) contacted us and said they would be interested in a one time deal and we think that will work out,'' said DeFilippo. "We still have to sign the contract, but everything looks good.''
With Weber State added, the rest of the BC home schedule for 2010 will be: Kent State on Sept. 11, Notre Dame on Oct.2 and an ACC schedule of Virginia Tech, Clemson, Maryland, and Virginia. The Eagles other non-conference game will be at Syracuse on Thanksgiving weekend.
