University of Massachusetts Athletic Director John McCutcheon announced today that the school will be seeking a new head coach for the women's basketball program after informing Marnie Dacko that her contract will not be extended beyond its April 10 expiration date.

"We want to thank Marnie for all of her contributions to the program and the University of Massachusetts," said McCutcheon. "We feel there has not been the competitive progress that we have been looking for and that a change was necessary. We will be initiating a national search immediately."

Dacko was UMass' head coach for eight seasons, from 2002 to 2010, and posted a record of 98-135 (.421) with the Minutewomen. The squad finished ninth in the Atlantic 10 this season with a mark of 5-9, going 11-19 overall.
