Skinner emerging as a contender at Rutgers

The Al Skinner to Rutgers connection is picking up speed. According to sources familiar with the situation, Skinner met with with Rutgers officials today in the New Jersey area and talked for 2 1/2 hours.
According to sources familair with the situation, the talks went well and Skinner is very much in the mix
Skinner, who was fired as the Boston College head coach last month, is one of Final four group that Rutgers has expressed an interest in hiring. The others are Robert Morris coach Mike Rice, former Manhattan, St. John's and New Mexico coach Fran Fraschilla and Temple coach Fran Dunphy, although Dunphy's interest in the job remains uncertain.
Barring any complications, an announcement on the new Rutgers coach could come early next week and Skinner, who received calls of support from Duke Coach Mike Krzyzewski, North Caroliina coach Roy Williams and former Rutgers player and NBA coach Eddie Jordan,could emerge as the front runner.,
